What is Acupuncture?

  1. Cupping
Cupping involves placing glass or plastic cups on the skin (usually the back). Air is removed from the cup in order to create suction. Cupping mobilizes the body's resources to break up stagnation and promote movement and blood flow.
  2. Acupuncture
Acupuncture involves placing very small needles in the skin in order to make contact with "chi". Balancing the chi can help restore regulation, which can lead to an overall healing effect throughout the body.
  3. Moxibustion
Moxibustion involves the application of heat by burning dried Artemisia Vulgaris Latifolia. "Moxa" helps patients who report feeling cold, tired, or run down, and in cases of sever exhaustion, can help restore energy levels.
  4. Guasha
Gua Sha, or "scraping sha-bruises", involves scraping the skin with a blunt object. Guasha encourages the muscles and surrounding tissues to relax and release toxins, thereby allowing better bloodflow to the area.
